What We All Like About Barney Fife

Okay, Barney Fife is a nuisance. He takes his job over-seriously, and annoys people. He's loud. He whines. He constantly gets Andy in situations.Yet...what makes him the co-star of the Andy Griffith Show? He sort of...evens Andy out. He can totally 'Nip it in the bud' (hee hee). Even though he doesn't often show it, he cares about Andy, Opie, and Aunt Bee. And he is willing to risk his life for his friends.

• He is devoted to the law. Which is completely if not ridiculously obvious. After all, you have to have a good law man around when 'Jaywalking is Rampant!'.

• He's musical. That's right, folks.

• He gives advice. Barney Fife: Boy, giraffes are selfish

Barney Fife: Well, I guess to sum it up, you could say, there's three reasons why there's so little crime in Mayberry. There's Andy, and there's me, and

Barney Fife: What's the matter, haven't you ever seen a man take off a dress before?

• He says it straight

Barney Fife: No more peanut butter and jelly sandwiches!!!

• Thelma Lou is his girl, Andy is his friend, Aunt Bee is his adopted Aunt, and Opie is his young friend.

• He almost never has a dull moment. And, he thinks can teach you how to shoot a gun.

"Nels!" So absolutely classic. Mr. and Mrs. Oleson are opposites of one another. Actually, Mr. Oleson is a nice person. Sometimes you can also see that Mrs. Oleson has her kind spots. Yet, together, their a traveling circus.

You didn't think I was going to leave the two eccentric ladies out, did you? Somehow, these two elderly ladies get away with having their very own 'Papa's recipe' machine. Maybe because they don't seem to know what their actually doing.

What other duo would dress as Geisha girls, aliens, crazy country girls, and be as mischievous as Lucy and Ethel? Their a totally odd team, but somehow they end up together. Okay, Lucy talks Ethel into it.

Casual Andy Taylor and hyper Barney Fife are an interesting duo. They even each other out. If there wasn't Andy, all the people of Mayberry would be in jail, and if it wasn't for Barney....well, the craziness would be missing. There so funny...well, in Barney's words, "Why don't you get yourself a red nose and join the circus!"

Gilligan must have been sore from the Skipper's frequent pats. really. They are hilarious together-Gilligan is a bit like the Skipper's younger Brother, "Gilligan little buddy!"

~Little House Week~ The Olesons

Without the Oleson's, the Little House show would be half as funny. Without Mrs. Oleson, the Oleson family wouldn't be funny at all. 

Mrs. Oleson is...a cranky, mischievous, mean person.

But, at times, though rare, she has her loving moments.

There's times we all just want to put her and her daughter in the corner. After all, over half of whatever Nellie does seems totally unfair to Laura. 

And Willie, well, half the time Willie's brain doesn't even appear to be there. Then there is Mr Oleson, poor Mr. Oleson. 

But in the end, Nellie and Laura turn out to be good friends. Even enemies can become better than the best friends.

A Brief Viewing of: I Love Lucy

My favorite show...I Love Lucy. Spanning from 1951 to 1957, I Love Lucy was one of the first great sitcoms. 'Lucy goes to the hospital', an episode in which Lucy and Ricky's son is born, had more views then the Eisenhower administration.

The show is based around four main characters, Lucy Ricardo (Lucille Ball) and her Cuban, bandleader husband Ricky Ricardo (Desi Arnaz), their landlords, Ethel Mertz (Vivian Vance) and her husband Fred Mertz (William Frawley).

Most of the show is based around Lucy; a mischievous, red-headed dare devil. Lucy always has a fresh scheme up her sleeve, whether it's gluing on a beard...

...Playing a martian...

...Or going through the dry cleaners...

...she will think up some crazy idea. Her Husband, Ricky Ricardo (who was her husband in real life) is a bandleader for the Tropicana night club. 

And he is frequently saying, "Luuuuuucy!", and being amazed at all his wife's latest tricks.

They also have a son, in season two, 'little Ricky'. Who we find out later is a great drummer.

Fred and Ethel are a humorous pair. Fred is a 'tightwad' as they label him, and Ethel enjoys eating too much. Somehow they ended up together.

And so, that's the show. All brought together by...Lucy Esmerelda Mcgillicuddy.

A Brief Viewing of: Green Acres

Green Acres! If you've heard of the show (1965-1971) you most likely remember it's classic theme song. The show has it's very own cute, funny, style. Lisa Douglas ( Eva Gabor) is the wife of Oliver Douglas ( Eddie Albert), a New York attorney who dreams of starting a farm in the country, and getting away from the 'rat race'. And so, they move to Green Acres.

The couple moves into an old, falling apart house widely known as 'the old Haney place', that is sold to them by who other then Mr. Haney himself. Mr. Haney is the classic swindler; of course the furniture doesn't come with the house, but if they want some he has just what they need.

Lisa wants just to be back in the city, where her Husband would rather raise corn. But they both have a strenuous task to do; Lisa has to cook and Oliver has to eat it.
